this may seem like a stupid question, but i havnt been ski-ing for 10 years and want to know if my 10 year old boots still cut the mustard, or is it recommended that i get a new pair, ive only had one weeks use of my Nordica's so they are in good nic.
Cheers

@Pants0440, I only replaced my the. 12yr old boots last season and only them because due to the compacting down of the liner they were too big and my foot was sliding around in them too much.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@Pants0440, if they fit properly and haven't been stored in direct sunlight (and even that's maybe no problem) they'll be fine.

welcome to snowheads, @Pants0440. I agree with the previous posters - if they look OK, they'll be OK unless your feet have changed (haven't had any pregnancies in the last 10 years by any chance?).
We once had linings eaten away by rats for nesting materials. But the boots had been stored in a cellar in a rented house - and were overdue for replacement anyway.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

They will be fine if they fit and are comfortable - yes technology has probably improved but not sure if you would notice a difference.

@Pants0440,
Welcome to snowheads, They will be fine if you looked after them and preferably did not have them stored in sunlight. I am still using my old lange boots that are circa 1992? Though I did stop for over 17 years and boots stored for that period.
Just check buckles and mounting points are ok check for damage at the ankle rivet and for any damage from bending the shell to put them on/off.

@ Speed098 This post is only my opinion, I know you did not seek opinion so please don't take offence, so here goes nothing.
Boots from '92 are antiques and should be replaced . The modern parabolic ski had not been invented in '92 and the way old skis and boots worked was different. Boots are now made of entirely different materials and you will find a modern ski works best with a modern boot. Yes the vintage 92's use the same shape ends to interface with the binding and they have buckles but that's about the limit of the similarities. My duckbill leather telemark boots are fun to use but can't be comprared to my ntn tele gear. My advice (not that you asked for any) would be to try a rental boot for a day a feel the difference. I think you would be amazed.

@Charliee, per @speed098, no.
Not at all correct. Not all wrong, but not all right.
Alpine boots haven't really changed at all, nothing really new, plastics maybe, but not universally. Rear entry boots have all but disappeared. AT boots have arrived.
And none of this will affect how they ski.
