Poster: A snowHead

About to book flights Liverpool to Geneva for a late January ski trip. I want to maximise our time on the snow so want to come home on the Sunday. Don't have any resort or accommodation lined up as of yet, but I am just a bit concerned about booking where we come home on a Sunday. What's the chances of finding a bargain bit of accommodation where we come home on a Sunday? Don't most catered chalets run Saturday/saturday? I've Sen some which do Sunday to Sunday's but not many.

@Ricklovesthepowder, I don't often do catered chalet, usually self-cater. Never a problem getting accommodation where departure is Sunday. Always book last flight home on Sunday evening so I get the whole day skiing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Whilst Sun-Sun is less common there are quite a lot of chalet companies that offer it on at least some of their properties, e.g. Silver Ski, Savoie Holidays, Ski Bonjour, Ice and Fire, Venture Ski. That's just a random few I know of. I wouldn't have thought you would have any trouble getting accommodation on a Tue-Sun basis last week in January if you are happy to book your flights and accommodation separately. However, I am not sure if the big TOs do it, if you are specifically looking for a last-minute deal.

@Ricklovesthepowder, your thread title says Tuesday to Sat/Sun. Are you looking for a Sun/Sun catered chalet with a view to missing the first two nights?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@pam w, essentially yes. But obviously not pay the full weekly rate. I'm sure I will find something. Going to book the flights

@Ricklovesthepowder, Try Mountainsun - they do short trips to Tignes and La Plagne and do reasonably priced transfers too from Geneva which aim to maximise your time on the slopes.

You might have better luck looking at B&B accomodation.

Les Dents Blanches at Morzine offer flexible stays which is why we are going there this year. Reviews seem good and communications have been excellent and friendly but as I have not stayed there yet I can not comment further.

Put a request into the solutions room on chalets direct, you should receive plenty of offers on there.

+1 you will definitely find something for low season by doing this, loads of independent chalets will offer flexible stays outside peak periods.

Bear in mind transfer costs if it's somewhere far from your arrival airport. A shorter stay makes car hire more cost-effective though. Good luck. Is your OH going to give the skiing another go or just enjoy a break in the mountains?
