Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendations for Knee specialists in/around Bristol

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of a Knee specialist in or around the Bristol area. Unfortunately My Bupa cover will not allow me to be referred directly to Mr Bell at the Wimbledon clinic but they have offered me two options. I can attend a sports injuries specialist who, if I twist his arm (don't think thats a good turn of phrase in an injury forum), may refer me to Mr Bell and then all will be covered but of course he may want to refer me elsewhere.

Or I can be referred directly to one of three surgeons at the Spire in Bristol.

Anyone had any experiences they may wish to share directly or on PM?

Thanks in advance

Jon Webb is with the Spire group and he is superb. http://www.kneeguru.co.uk/KNEEnotes/specialists/knee-surgeon/dr-mr-jonathan-webb. When he was still a houseman doing his ortho placement with Mr Christopher Ackroyd's specialist knee team, he was superb. Brilliant manner with patients and is very proactive about getting back into sports.

He was also not too shabby as the England full-back for a wee while either! wink And I'm saying that as a life-long Wales supporter.

Samerberg Sue, Thanks for the pointers. I appreciate it, He was not a bad kicker either, I have contacted BUPA again and, surprise, surprise, Jon Webb is not approved under this new "Open reference" policy. People be cautious of this policy, historically i could chose who I would like to see but now BUPA tell you who you can see and it's not necessarily the "Fee approved" ones on their consultant finder website.
