Poster: A snowHead
|
Hello all,
I worked as a chalet host in VT last season and have just been offered a host job in La Plagne, the package sounds great, full paradiski pass etc, smaller chalet than I had last year (phew). However, I've never been to La Plagne, which is exciting but I also have no idea what to expect. I should know by Friday whether I've been offered a bar job in Meribel, which I was hoping for so that my hands don't rot away to gangrene again. I was just wondering if anyone could advise of apres/seasonaire life in Plagne centre, obviously I've used the google machine but does anybody have personal experience?
Any thoughts or advice will be much appreciated and welcomed!
Merci beaucoup!

bawzzla13, I was based in Montchavin, so don't know a lot about Plagne Centre apres. My suspicion is that it's probably better in Meribel - though there is definitely a seasonnaire scene in Plagne Centre. However, if relevant, the skiing is excellent, particularly the offpiste, and there seems very little competition for it, so you get days (weeks) of fun after a fresh dump. Separate seasonnaire area passes don't exist - so all seasonnaires have full area passes. On the other hand, based in Plagne Centre, you might not get over to Les Arcs much anyway.
To avoid the gangrene hands, I got rubber gloves after the first 2 weeks. My employer bought them but I would bought my own (or got sent out from UK in a job lot) if not.

bawzzla13, a bar job in Meribel (on a French contract? Probably not as they're nearly all owned by UK companies but anyway..) walks all over chalet hosting in La Plagne for social life.

I'd vote for Meribel as well, especially if you get a 3V pass!

Meribel has far more nightlife than LP, but if you do go to La Plagne you won't be bored. There are plenty of Brit seasonnaires about and great skiing to be had. I'm probably going there myself in December
La Plagne has a good seasonnaire bar/club with special drink prices and Scotty's Bar is good with live music etc.

I've just been offered the Meribel job and considering the screaming/jumping around that commenced upon opening the email, I think Meribel is the winner. Many thanks for all the help!
