Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Maybe I will stop checking the webcam 'Every' day, but it just seems like so long to wait and so long ago since Alpe D'huez (Jan 2014) and Peisy-Vallandry ( March 2014)

Conditions in the first week of October are completely irrelevant in terms of what it might be like after Christmas. I'd recommend you stop looking at webcams until the beginning of December.

under a new name, loads of snow at the beginning of November last year which got everyone excited about early season conditions, and then nothing but blue sky until Christmas Day, by which time things were getting marginal in many French resorts, especially for the lower resorts which missed out on some of the pre-season snow. On 9 November the Grand Motte looked like this:

By Christmas week last year off-piste was unavailable, and piste conditions were getting thin and scratchy. The opposite occurred the previous year, with not much snow through November and resorts still green within a couple of weeks of the opening of the main season. Then it started to snow and didn't really stop until opening week, so by 8 December it looked like this:

Simply proves that conditions in October and even in November are not reliable indicators of what it might be like at the end of December.

No. The webcam might be become relevant to you sometime around December 12th, not October 12th.

@ elbak89 ..... if youre staying in a chalet, you sometimes find that the company who owns the chalet ...... or chalet(s) if they own several will offer you an incentive such as a
discount on lift pass prices. For example, We went to La Plagne (Paradaski area) and the chalet we stayed in were offering a little bit off the full price of lift passes
when booking the chalet and tickets directly with them...also I myself got a FREE lift pass for being the lead booker / group organiser which was brilliant as it was also my birthday the 2nd day in :0)

Even if your not staying in a chalet, and your staying in a hotel, companys like crustal ski often have offers such as buy one ski pass, get the next one half price ... or even buy one pass and get the next one for £1 !!!

rob@rar, I'm not very good at remembering what conditions are like in detail unless I've actually skied in them. Past few years weekends have generally been too busy getting apartments ready for the season to exploit any early snow.

Certainly although at 1,100 in Chamonix we'd had an early with snow still in the garden but it was gone a few weeks later. We went up I think the week before Xmas and it felt like late April.

under a new name, although we had amazing snow at the beginning of November, conditions gradually deteriorated during December. Although the higher resorts had decent piste conditions, I think some lower resorts (Morzine?) were close to postponing their opening? First three weeks of December (I skied Tignes, Meribel and Les Arcs) offered good piste conditions, but not much off-piste. By Christmas week conditions were getting poor, but fresh snow arrived on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, depending how far south you were. You're right that as well as being almost unbroken sunshine during December, we also had some warm days. Was great for an early season tan Happy
