Morning all!
The playground has opened for the new term on a glorious day!
http://www.tignes.net/en/skiing-in-tignes/webcams-290.html
Hopefully there will be some snow tomorrow night - the glacier looks a bit bare at the moment and only the race training areas are open - but the lifts look busy with the early birds . Watch out for those crevasses.

Woo! First snow to village level this season, wonderful!
So nice to see the grass covered up, even if it won't last.

And its all gone! Looked smashin on the webcams today - although I'm not sure how good the skiing is - still there are nearly all professionals so they can man up and get on with it
The forecast for early next week looks positively unsettled with a lot of precipitation and the temps are going to drop markedly so hopefully there will be snow down to village level again. The flip side will be the wind - I suspect there may be some practice 'getting up early'. It also looks like being unseasonably mild by the end of next week - so the resort runs may only be doable temporarily. But with the potential for a lot of snow up top - Vanoise and a couple of other lifts may become a player.

Thanks guys. There are a few of us invisible Tignes watchers who find all the intel very helpful. Just watching for the snow at the end of next week.................

Stewart,
Following the racing tracks is easier than not realising they are there - snow-glacier ice-snow-glacier ice as you cross the 'S's.

@stewart woodward, 20 deg C in god's Own County today - hope it stays cooler in resort and you left a sheep in your garden back home - otherwise you may find the house has disappeared when you get back to Blighty!

@stewart woodward,
Is a large dump what we need with the ground I suspect still being warm. If amounts are as predicted Avalanche risk will be very high and it will not all melt until spring. Unstable base for the season?
Still if it happens I will be walking around with a on my face!

By looking on the webcam it looks like the tyres are being put on the courts by the lake and the high fences are coming down and the orange bumpers have been put round a lot of the snow cannons.
Must be expecting snow

do they open any other runs besides the glacier ones if there's enough snow and temperatures look good to keep them open ?

Don't worry they will open Double M as soon as poss - the price of the lift pass goes up as soon as it is open. (Looks like we need a 'ching ching' smiley!)

Had the day off today so spent rather too long ogling the Grand Motte webcam while I had electricity installed to shed. Lots of little ants enjoying themselves in the sunshine this morning, must have been above 150 to 200 of them at one stage. Weather gods had the ants scurrying for cover in afternoon though. That'll teach them for enjoying themselves while I'm still in the land of owt and nowt. But then, with electrickery now in shed I'll now be able to get fit in evenings ready to join the little ants.

I don't think double m was officially open, though I gather some people may have mistakenly misread the sign saying it was closed, jolly nice it was too by all accounts.

@ansta1, I think it officially opened a day or so after we left...
