Looks great!!¨! I am heading out to NZ in mid July for a month! I'm hoping to find some people to hook up with to go Ski touring. Do you know of any clubs or organisations I could get in touch with? Any help much appreciated!

Getting crapper 
1 run on trail today - 8 core shots. snow report creatively described conditions as cookies and cream snow. It sounded quite nice. what it actually turned out to be was brown slush with rocks in it, but it did look like cookies n cream ice cream.
Definitely the worst start to the season I can remember.

Had a great surf this morning however, warm, sunny, nice little peelers and just about managed to still squeeze into my wetsuit.

Can't help you on that sorry - never been to the North Island hills. Probably best to have a look at the reports on www.snow.co.nz and pick whatever one looks the best on the day.

Depending on how close you are to major airport - Auckland or Wellington, it's really cheap and easy to get to the South Island and get to a mountain - probably quicker than getting to Ruapehu if you are driving. Only thing is the snow's not too flash anywhere on the South Island, but it's snowing right now and looks like a bit more on the way over the next week.
Might be worth looking at that - really easy to book a flight with Jetstar or Air NZ, and usually pretty cheap - $60 each way if you get the right one. If you went to Queenstown you could easily do it without hiring a car.

hang11, I looked at heading to Queenstown but my timing is tight and the flights were coming in at more like $400 return, whereas the car hire is on the company. I just wish I could find some clients in Christchurch then I could charge it on expenses, but until then that's a bit pricey for a day's skiing. That settles it: 10 months to get some business in S.Island... That's what I call motivation
