Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Bum 1 faces tax bill of $11.2 million. Ski Bum 2 scrapes the barrel in France and Switzerland

Ski bums enjoy contrasting fortunes. Consider the cases of these two Americans:

Ski Bum 1 (of Aspen) is being chased for a tax bill of $11.2 million. Will Kesler, a 57-year-old Vietnam veteran who's single with no children, says "he couldn't believe what he heard on the telephone [from the tax authorities] so he hung up."

This report from Aspen Daily News.

Ski Bum 2 is having more fun. Tom Winter - US ski writer - has been in Chamonix, Val Thorens and Saas Fee in the opening days of this winter. With little money in his pocket he's "crossed the Col de Balm, a high pass outside of Chamonix and descended into Switzerland. A massive alpine valley stretched before us, dotted with quaint towns: Sion, St Leonard and Vex."

From there he ventured to Saas Fee for some fun on the glacier, but found himself sleeping in a car after noting the local hotel prices. He recommends a very warm sleeping bag.

Read his entertaining diary on Freeskier.com.
