I am planning a ski trip next Easter, been always skiing the Geneva side of the Alps, so for a change, thinking of going somewhere else. I can fly to either to Zurich or Milan from where I am.
If I fly to Zurich, the resorts to consider are: Flims, St Moritz, and ? Wengen might be too low for late season skiing.
If I fly to Milan, the resorts to consider are Cervinia and ??
Bearing in mind that in early April snow might be a bit thin and if possibleoublic transport rather than renting a car for a week. Any suggestion / recommendation would be most appreciated.

Crusader, there was a 2011 thread "Closest resorts to Milan"
Easter is relatively early next year.
Courmayeur is lovely early April. And often better conditions than Chamonix just the other side of Mont Blanc.
I haven't been to Cervinia since 1988 but certainly worth considering.

As has been mentioned, snow should be ok just about everywhere with the early-ish easter in 2015.

....resorts at the western end of Austria - eg Montafon areas (Schruns etc); Voralberg (St Anton/Lech/Zuers);or Landeck area - eg Ischgl, Serfaus/Fiss. Soelden and Obergurgl would also be easily do-able.

Bit spoiled for choice .

Crusader, I think Flims is south facing and the villages themselves are relatively low (although the skiing goes much higher). So might not be such a good bet for late season.
I'm sure Cervinia would be great at that time of year.

If you fly to milan linate Bormio is about 2 1/4 to 2 3/4 hours by car or livingno is about 50 mins further.

Crusader, ...trouble is, easter os always a lottery as to where the snow is. Stating the obvious, I know.
We are based in Crans Montana - South facing so can be dodgy - but from there we chase the snow in some of the 'best kept secret' places - for example, Grimentz and Zinal in the Val D;Anniviers - north east facing and so retain the snow - 40 mins drive from Crans Montana. Small but perfectly formed, and accommodation cheap. And you can also access Nendaz, which gives you access to the 4 valleys. Have a look at the map and see what you think. And if you need guides or some tuition (or even some heli-skiing) there's the excellent Swiss Mountain Sports in Montana, with excelllent UIAGM guides or English instructors...

Crusader, that late in the season, Cervinia is certainly a good option, with enough altitude to keep the snow in good condition, despite heat and plenty sunshine. We just spent a week there early March this year. Despite brilliant sunshine and warm temperatures, the slopes were in terrific condition.
If you fly to Zurich, the higher Austrian resorts are worth considering, such as Sölden and Obergurgl. These should still have decent snow then. The Arlberg region could be a bit riskier snow-wise, because of the lower altitude.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I know the snow coverage at that time of the year is a bit unpredictable. Earlier this year, I went to Verbier for a weekend at end of March, the snow was excellent, and Verbier was quiet, very quiet.
Any opinion on St. Moritz or Davos in early Easter?
Other consideration is transport - in order to get costs, I am looking for a resort which I can get to from the Milan or Zurich airport by train or ski shuttle instead of hiring a car or taking a taxi.

Crusader, St. Moritz and Davos are both fairly safe bets for Easter, I would have thought - they both have plenty of high runs and partly north facing I think, although the Davos itself isn't particularly high. Cervinia probably a better bet snow-wise - the resort is high and the slopes exceptionally high.

Don't forget Santa Caterina in Italy. I did a long weekend there this year and travelled by public transport.

If you fly into Milan rather than Bergamo the train to Tirano is direct, you don't need to change at Lecco.

Thank you all for the suggestions, they are extremely useful. So I think it is down to Cervinia or Bormio/Santa Caterina if I fly to Milan.

Arosa is high altitude, snow sure and beautiful (after researching the Alps for 12 years, we chose here to live here eight years ago). It is linked by train from Zurich Airport, the 225km skiing starts at 1800m.
