Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Coaches to the Alps

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hello,

I'm starting to look at booking our ski trip for this year January. I have used SkiBus Uk before and would quite like to get us booked on that again. However it would appear that none of the coach companies that go to the Alps have released their dates yet or they are fully booked. Does anyone know when they might be doing so?

Cheers

John

I'd rather walk than get a coach after a 36 hour journey back from Austria,.

That's true. I once forgot the iPad charger when driving and the kids ran out of power for the films at Lyon.

If you actually try and book, all the outbound journies are not available, no matter what month you choose. I shall try calling them on Monday, as they actually have the same phone number as SkiBus

Not sure where you are going to but if you are thinking of Meribel or La Tania you could look at

Much more comfy coaches, proper reclining seats, pillows and eye patches.

Get a writen descripion of the coach before booking. some are blissful, some are purgatory . . . traveled by both and I like to be able to walk or evacuate my bowels after the journey . . . could barely do either after one trip Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for the replies. I gave Snowexpress a ring who now own skibusuk and they said they will have dates up in the next two weeks. I'm looking into the ski meribel as that looks like a good option.

Friends who had been visiting my place at half term (when I was long gone) crawled north at the end of the half term week, eventually getting north of Dijon at about the time they'd hoped to get to Calais. Then the car broke down. A breakdown truck took a while to reach them, on the crowded road, and towed them south back to Dijon. They had AA 5 star insurance, fortunately. They were eventually able to get a hired car to take them to Calais, where they had to leave the car, cross as foot passengers on the ferry, then pick up a second hired car in Dover. Then a week later the driver had to go back to pick up the mended car.

3 or 4 years ago I had to leave my car in Italy for a week to get a new clutch fitted, though that wasn't a ski trip. All forms of transport are OK till they're not.

We did several coach trips, with ski Olympic and Snowcoach, back in the day - they were OK, despite some nasty weather which in one case necessitated chains before Bourg St Maurice. Took the drivers ages to get them on. I don't know why people make so much more fuss about 10 or 12 hours sitting in a coach compared to the same time sitting on an aircraft flying to Colorado.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Just the 36 hours for us once from North East England to Mayrhofen Shocked. It was about 20 years ago and we must've stopped at every bus station between Darlington and Dover! Five nights' B&B with shared facilities for £85 Laughing and a great time skiing at Hintertux Smile. The company was called Timescape as I recall.

We've since sat on a posh bus at a ski show - it was actually quite appealing!

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

I went on the coach once. Took about 24 hours to get to Austria. Bloody Froggies burning sheep or summat like that. Much better coming back, but I've never chanced it again.
