hedley, hold fire and book last(ish) minute. That way you can go wherever the snow is good regardless of altitude. Usually plenty of availability for Easter at a decent price.

We love La Plagne and it ticks all of your boxes so that might be worth a look?

We normally go to Val Thorens at Easter - snow sure at Easter plus lots of great intermediate runs, and most accommodation is ski in ski out. Plus if the snow is particularly good next year then you've also got the whole of the 3 Vallees to play in

++1 for VT, fantastic conditions last Easter despite all the warm weather, great/fast lifts so no queuing, intermediate heaven and loads of ski in/out apartments, going back next year end of March! With young family, we had no need to go beyond the VT area even if the snow warranted it.
Just be careful which apartment block you book in, some are very close/above the main bars/clubs; the website has a great interactive map to find where to stay/where not to stay.

Not really but a nicely located chalet or Hotel would be preferable over self catering.
I've done all the countries many times, but of late I'm drawn back to Austriia for the atmosphere. Mainly st Anton and Ischgl.
I've never been at to Austria in April. I know in March a lot of the home runs to town in Ischgl and St Anton can close for the season due to avi risk.
As this is a family trip I'm not too fussy about the extent of the skiing. More the quality and location of the accommodation and to be able to ski back to base without it being like the M20

hedley, take a look at Obertauern. Easter is a lot earlier next season so you don't necessarily need to go as high in Austria as you do in France maybe. Who knows though how the season will play out.

Mayrhofen.
Solden? We stayed out of the village this Easter and bused in every day. Was fine as we were at beginning of route and got seats.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

I went to Mayrhofen in mid-March this year and the snow was iffy at best, and only 1 run open down to resort (and only due to snow making). I would not suggest Mayrhofen as a late season resort unless it is a very good snow year. Hintertux is nearby so you can always ski there (but that leaves you with a less-than-ideal set-up for a family trip).

Hedley - if you like PSV you should give Val Cenis a go at some point. For the week you are thinking of next year I'd recommend looking at Les Arcs 1950..we were there in April this year and the skiing was fantastic despite the mild weather. Montgenevre is also a good place to go at Easter.

hedley, indeed
I agree with snowymum and think montgenevre would be a good place to look for Easter, that newish Hotel Anova is piste side and looks good.
Or look at The Family Ski Company chalets in Ardent, ski in pretty much and easy access right up into Avoriaz which is a good bet for Easter.

hedley, Ischgl kept its home runs open last season despite the warm weather other than the bottom section of run 7 but that is often closed
Plenty nice accommodation but not cheep

+ 1 for Arc 1950 - good skiing this year even with the late Easter and even some powder at one point, though we did get a mornings worth of rain as well

Thanks for all the replies folks.
I'm narrowing it down to Obergurgl as I have never been and fancy a change.
Hotel Madeleine or Hotel Regina or my preference Hotel Jennewein as it directly on the piste has a nice bar restaurant/sun terrace.
Anyone stayed at any of these hotels?

Prefer the Hotel Gotthard -ski in and out, great spa including a pool, great food, nice owners. Food at Jennewein supposed to be good though. Been a few times in April -snow has always been great, often with some fresh snowfall during the week.

hedley, I've friends who stay in the Jennewein year-after-year so, I guess they like it. Heard good things about the Madeline and Gotthard too but I always stay in a pension.
