Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

6 months broken leg report (& BobinCH question)

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
[I'm trying to contact BobinCH with a possible La Grave holiday invitation but he hasn't been on here for nearly 3 months so hasn't seen my PM. I would be extremely grateful if someone who has his email could tell him he has a PM from me (or send me his email if you think he wouldn't mind).]

Hi all those friendly Snowheads who commiserated 6 months ago.

A few people said to keep you updated about the progress of my smashed leg.
6 months now (on Friday) and things are going well. I am walking completely normally and cycling and attending group physio sessions at the hospital Gym twice a week. Still painful to kneel on that knee and the knee gets sore where the top of the rod down the bone is if I try to do one leg squats or press heavy weights (but the muscles are almost equal to the other leg now). Up to now they wouldn't let me jog but now it is 6 months I'll ask again. I intend to try a bit of gentle skiing at Hemel in 3 weeks Tu 29th morning (before I see the surgeon again) to see how it feels and if it is likely I should have the (very slightly protruding) screws in my ankle out to ski comfortably in ski boots. If so I would have that done in October, which is the earliest they would be prepared to do it.
As you can see, though, I am assuming skiing will be OK and booking holidays and off piste guides (!)

the screws probably wont bother you, I have 2 in my ankle from a tib/fib break they stick out a tiny bit but never noticed them skiing, liners will soon mould round them Smile

geeo, I hope I'm the same as you but someone when I posted 6 months back said it had been a problem for him and he had to have the screws out. Actually, just trying the boot on, it is more the bone callous at the break (at the top of the boot) that could be the problem. I think it will be OK, though.
it is more the pain in my knee when I stress it that I'm worried about because I didn't have that till I put a bit more pressure on the joint recently.

I imagine it will turn out OK in the end, though - I'm just a worrier rolling eyes Very Happy

I was told the callous will smooth over time after it initially thickens for a quicker, stronger repair.

When I did my femur the surgeon took out the screws as he said if I do it again they would make it worse Shock

Hopefully you'll be all sorted in time for the season
