Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Dry Slope Freestyle

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi everyone. This is my first post so feel free to put me right if haven't followed proceedures.

Southampton Alpine Centre relaunched their Freestyle evening last week and I went along to show support and meet Billy Morgan. But I had a really fantastic time and my daughter and I are planning to make it a regular event.

I've never done that sort of skiing before so I've been having a look round at what sort of kit I might need and how to look after it. I currently have a pair of Head Rev 90 which are wonderful on snow.

What does everyone think about using a fattish pair of skies? I felt a little bit cumbersome. Does having more contact help or hinder? And would shorter skies help? Mine are 163cm which is to the tip of my nose.

I'm in my mid 40s so I'm not looking to pull off a 1080 or a half randy full! And I'm going to stop and catch my breath fairly often so I don't think heat will be a problem.

Used to ride down at High Wycombe dryslope before it shut, really enjoyed the freestyle night there! At a basic level you'll be fine with what you've got but as soon as you (hopefully!) progress a set of twin tips that you can de-tune the edges is nice to have as landing/skiing switch is fundamental to freestyle. Height wise I'd go with what you are comfortable and used to!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks the doc. I have my eye on a pair from ski barn. Mine just feel a bit fat on what is already a slow surface. And I was a bit worried about spoiling them for snow. So what do you do now H. Wycombe has closed? Hemel Hemstaed is quite close isn't it? We're quite spoiled for dry slopes but no snow.
