Poster: A snowHead

Help! We are hunting out options for family ski trip in April. Obviously we have to go high. We are trying to find self catering apartment for 6 which is proving difficult.
We are on a tighter budget this year, so want to have option to go budget flight and independent transfer.
We would love to try Cervinia but there are very few apartments available and none that look "on the slope".
Another good option is Saas Fee in one of the apartments there which look good.
Can anyone suggest other nice high places with easy enough transfer options and decent apartment choices?
Thanks in advance of any help.

Lorenzo, Avoriaz, it's full of apartments and an easy transfer from Geneva.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Lorenzo, We have a 3 bedroom apartment in a resort that is linked to a high ski area, most of the skiing is above 2000 metres, the skiing is usually good up until the end of April.
We are not on the slopes but just 100 metres from the gondola that takes you up to 2000 metres. We can also help find you the best transport options and we have some flexibility on start dates and durations.
Have a look on our website www.skichamp.co.uk and PM or email us if it is of any interest to you.

Val Thorens would tick all your boxes, we were there last month and the skiing was fantastic, even after the warm spring-don't know about transfer options, might well be cheaper to hire yourselves a car. We've always used homeaway for apt rental and there are 600+listed rentals from studios to 3/4 bedders-most of them on or very close to slopes.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Les Deux Alpes has loads of apartments, usually pretty reasonable at that time of year. Flights to Grenoble and bus to resort (although for 6 a car may be cheaper). Skiing up to 3600m with a glacier so plenty of skiing regardless.

Lorenzo, there are absolutely loads and loads of suitable apartments and April is generally low season in France. What are your other criteria. Avoriaz would certainly be a good bet - shorter/cheaper transfer than the Tarentaise. Also Les Deux Alpes, as Claude B suggests, if Grenoble airport suits you. Guaranteed skiing on the glacier even if it turns out very warm. Beers and stuff generally cheaper than the Tarentaise. Some apartment suggestions http://www.easi-apartments.com/

Thanks for all the info. Never looked at Avoriaz before. Is it really high enough to keep decent conditions into April though?

Lorenzo, yes there was fresh snow on the 19th this year, conditions were good and this wasn't a great snow season.

Many lower places keep decent conditions into April most years.
