I know that there was an announcement last year that Westfield were going to build a fridge at there shopping centre in London. But there has not been a lot mentioned since, I was wondering if anyone had any news and if it is still going ahead

Nothing on the owners site - not even a mention of the snowdome in their bit about the Westfield Phase2 projects. Boz appears to have been a bit optimistic when he said it'd be open in 2 years. Thats not like him... Oh, wait. Thats EXACTLY like him.

I know what you are saying about Boz but I suppose he is saying what he's been told by Westfield. I do wonder if it is built where abouts it would be located as there doesn't appear to be a lot of room on the site.

I think the media centre plan was seperate to the Westfield one as they are using the mediaa centre for something else

In August the Telegraph reported that no planning application had been submitted. Is this another dead fridge project?

tarrantd i think what your saying about is this another dead fridge project looks sadly to be the case i think its a shame as i think it would have been great. If i would build one anyhere it wovld be near the proposed paramount theme park at swanscombe in kent beause it would be near the M25 plus near ebbsfleet international station for hs1 to London

Thanks folks. A shame. We live in Kent so one at Swanscombe would be great. At the moment we have to travel to Hemel for the nearest fridge - which we and a number of friends have done a number of times to give newcomers to skiing a head start before going on holiday. The dry ski slope at Chatham is horrible IMO.

I've heard that things are still moving on this project, albeit slowly. I think it will happen, but not any time soon.

At £200 million development i hope the owners are looking at a long term payback...otherwise i'm gonna have to hit the pension just for a lift ticket - wait, i'm already dipping into it just riding Hemels hill! Cruising 300m will be so, so worth it though.

Hi all,
We're all praying this development goes ahead. For us at Snow-Camp (snowsports youth charity), to have a London facility where the young people we sport can get themselves to the centre would be game-changing. Not to mention the work opportunities and spotlight the development would shine on our industry!
Let's keep our collective finger's tightly crossed!

Oxley, l'm not sure what you're saying is Chobham Farm South and Chobham Farm zone 4 the same thing? Therefore no snow dome and it will be residential instead?

there is some land to south of Chobham Farm (triangular wedge between A112, A118 and Montfichet Rd) behind the power station dead opposite the Westfield Centre but I'm unsure if its big enough for "Europe's biggest snowdome" ???
