Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

May Day Weekend Trip Report - Espace Killy and Val Thorens

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Back from a brilliant three days' skiing - last two days of the season in Espace Killy and one at Val Thorens. We also had a go on the new Val Thorens zip wire - 100kph and over 200m Shocked above the valley. It's fantastic!

Snow cover: Cover was generally excellent for the time of year and as extensive as we've seen in six or seven May Day trips - still masses of snow at altitude. Runs were skiable down to 1800m at Val D'Isere and Tignes Les Boisses, although we had to walk about 50m from the end of the snow to the Boisses gondola. Val Thorens had lifts open from just below the resort at about 2100m.

Conditions: The full works - fresh powder; packed powder; spring snow; sticky snow; mush; slush; and re-frozen, foot-vibrating corduroy. Generally good conditions on non-south-facing slopes above 2500m. Most runs were virtually deserted and we skied straight on to every lift - great stuff!

Weather: Mainly good. Day 1 - Mixed. Sun, fog, light snow, good visibility, bad visibility. Days 2 and 3 - Glorious bluebird. Cool for early May - it was 0C at 3000m in mid-afternoon on day 2, rising to 15C at 2000m at close of play on day 3.

A great trip but that's it for lift served skiing for 2013/14 Sad . Will look forward to winter 2014/15, possibly some ski touring in Scotland in the next few weeks and lots of mountain biking over a glorious UK summer Cool . And here are a few photos:
