Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

valais2, Really? I knew he died in an avalanche, how does the scarf fit in? (genuine question, I'm not taking the pass or having a go, I really do want to know)

robapplegate, ...it's in The Philosophy of Risk and also on the wik entry for him. He went off piste at leysin on a notorious face re slab, was caught and, if I recall correctly (the connor book is in ch) buried at a shallow depth but when they excavated him it seemed his scarf had tightened and choked him. The Connor book is good although, apparently like so many who climbed with him, Connor did not really get close to the man.

I learnt to ski in Leysin and I didn't know that, but then it's probably not the sort of story you tell kids on their first week.

musher, he is buried in leysin - very modest grave marked with just a number - went there one damp grey April day. The graveyard has a fantastic view.

valais2,
Many ski resorts have graveyards with views and stories to tell. I always get a tear in my eye when we pass the cemetry in Seefeld on our way to the Rosshütte.
