Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I had forgotten just how much fun race skis were

We wandered over to Champoluc at the weekend motivated partially by the ideas of it possibly being lambing season and fresh grilled lamb at the Sapin. Weather forecast springlike so for a giggle I threw my GS race skis (RD, FIS, 185cms, 2009) on the roof beside the Mantras.

How much fun? Having skied nothing slimmer than the Ms since January I had quite forgotten the sensation of having a skinny ski underfoot. Very welcome and delightful on the mornings' hardpack/ice and just generally fun all round. Even side piste. And in the afternoon slush.

I've had so much fun on my SLs this year after 6 years on skis 98mm underfoot. Timed it perfectly for this warm season.

It is lovely when you remember you can carve short turns on morning hard pack - makes that first hour fun in a way it isnt really on fatter skis

I too have been migrating back towards skinnier skis this year. Been on Völkl RTM 81s, which it turns out are just as good as the Mantras in pow/crud/sludge and are just great on piste. What's not to like?

I fell in love with some Dynastar WC (182) skis a few weeks ago that my local shop let me take up a few times. They were amazingly fun, and amazingly fast.
