Help!!
Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I am planing to fly into Salzburg on Thursday for 4 days skiing in and around Wagrain. Feedback on latest conditions on the slopes would be really appreciated. Great forecast for sunbathing but high temperatures concern me and wondering what time the snow starts going slushy ?
Many thanks

Hi DCP10,
http://www.onthesnow.co.uk/salzburg/skireport.html
have a really good report, with webcams so you can actually see for your self.
Hope this helps!
Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I'll be skiing there as of the 23rd for a week and am not too worried about conditions as things can change dramatically (fingers crossed) plus they lift company have been managing the pistes fantastically all winter.

I skied in Dorfgastein / Grossarl on Sunday, not far from Wagrain, and it was a super ski day. The snow on the east-facing slopes down to Grossarl soon became soft and sugary (I suppose there is more sun there in the morning) and skiing was quite hard work but we could still ski down to the valley. There were only a few bare patches appearing, though given the current weather here - blazing sun, I'm not sure how long it will stay that way. Here's a view down to Grossarl from the slopes of the Sonntagskogel...
For the afternoon we stayed on Dorfgastein side and the skiing was fine, down to the middle station. The valley run on this side was closed, however, all mud down below. Here is a photo looking over the Gastein valley from beside the Wengeralm, where we had lunch...
Not at all busy despite the perfect weather.
So it looks like staying high and on north/west-facing slopes would be best. Enjoy your trip!
Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Many thanks for the really helpful feedback - looking forward to the trip and will be in that first gondola each day
