Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Flights Birmingham to geneva feb half term

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Ive just booked a chalet in Les Gets for 11 in feb half term next year (2015) but finding flights looks a hard job and expensive. Direct flights are £600 from London city airport- does anyone know if more flights are released later in the year ?

Carriers like Easyjet release their flights unexpectedly, often all you can reasonably do is to check the site twice a day until the route you want appears (I have done this) at which point it starts going up in price by a tenner an hour...

GVA is the obvious choice for Les Gets, but be flexible about your airports if it makes sense to trade money for transfer time. Airports like Luton on this side, and airports like Grenoble on the other side, work out often WAY cheaper than popular routes e.g. LGW<->GVA. On the other hand, some of the less well travelled routes can produce unexpected premiums. Investigate a range of routes, and decide how you feel about the cost of the flight versus the value of convenience. Car hire can be a major factor too, if you're doing that. Cars from GVA are approx 2x the price of cars from GNB or LYS for example.

Wilkommen in snowHeads, btw.

Would be surprised if EasyJet flights from UK airports to Geneva are that expensive as standard... maybe it's just too early to book them for next year?? In the past few years we've booked EasyJet Geneva flights from August to November ish and usually for around ~£150 mark. You can get flights now (for, say, April) for around £110.

I've been checking EasyJet flights from Birmingham to Geneva the last day or two, and I get a message saying that the flights stop on 20th April. I don't know if that's just the end of their winter timetable or for good or ....? Might be worth contacting their customer services to see if the route is going to operate next year?

I found non-direct return flights between Birmingham and Geneva for around £190 (used skyscanner) ... though this was for April so Feb may differ.

Basically - £600 way too much.

Mr Pieholeo, is quite right, half term flights, especially to Geneva get very expensive, very quickly. It's completely different to April, most of the country's skiing population with school age children go that half term week.

shazchip, easyJet flights for next winter are not yet on sale, and probably won't be for a few months. What Mr Pieholeo says - keep checking. People do post on SHs when the next batch of flights are released (after they've booked their own.... Evil or Very Mad )

IME there's little point asking them when the date will be - but no harm in giving it a try.

As an example BA have only recently released half term flights. A Gatwick return flight to Geneva has already risen to £750 Shocked it's about £150 the week before.

A few years ago I waited up and booked BA flights to Zurich just after midnight on the day they were released Happy No more half term skiing for me now though.

Completely potty, but if people are willing to pay those prices, you can't blame the airlines for charging them.

I paid 100 pounds yesterday to get from Leamington Spa to London, on something a bit like a plane except it never left the ground.

Yeah, the railways know all about inelastic demand.

Also, I like the characterization of market forces whereby the vendor reluctantly sells at a high price demanded by an affluent community of buyers.

Those stupid parents who'll be fined for taking their kids out of school, ruining it for everyone else with their crazy deep pockets!

shazchip, No problem, it doesn't need to be, you just need to very organised and plan ahead if you're planning to do a DIY and fly.
