Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Help! New skis required

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
After many years of excellent service I shall have to retire my beloved Volkl Supersport 4 star Skis. I just love their performance. Radius 17.5 and 114-68-99.
I am not an off piste skier these days as the knees and legs are shot.
Can anyone suggest suitable replacements? I have been looking at/ for Tigersharks and Rtm 81. I know I have to ski them how likely are shop demo skis going to be available in France in early march?
Thanks all.

Hi Maersk - I have Head Magnums for the piste and they are great skis (I had Volkl Supersports in the past too). I've also heard good things about the Head Rally (which I think is a new model this year).

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Maersk, I had a several weeks on the Tigershark 11ft Powerswitch and thought long and hard about buying a pair.

As things turned out, I now have a pair of Kneissl Black Star MCs 172 (17m radius - 76 waist).

They're not quite as heavy as the Tigershark. They seem to perform really well on piste in mixed conditions. Really hold their edge, stable at speed, nice and maneuverable on fairly deep fresh snow on piste. I also thought they were great fun on an inbound off piste area where conditions were variable (deepish, not-so-deep, heavy and areas of light....all quite mixed and chopped up from quite a bit of skiing).

I tend to be a mainly piste skier who doesn't mind the non-knarly off piste stuff. On piste in fresh, chopped up, hard-pack/scrapped or nice grippy, groomed conditions, the Kneissls have been massively fun and very assured. Going into pootle mode (not pushing and generally messing about), they're also fine/fun.
