Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

4 days/1 week skiing start of April from London

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Morning Snowheads!
I would like some advice for a long weekend/ possibly a week departing London 28/29 March (dates are felexible).
I have been to Val d'Isere for a week already this year and I have all in all 3 weeks skiing experience.
I went down the blues in Val - although not the ones down to the resort (e.g. Santons)and really enjoyed the Ski tranquille area and the Pisailles glacier.
I am not the most confident of skier, but had a blast in Val (3rd week of Jan).

I am now looking to squeeze in some more time and I am open to possibilities.
Apart from Val, I have skied in Sweden (Lindvallen) and Austria (Seefeld).

What do you recommend for 1st week of April?
Was thinking Les Deux Alpes or Serre Chevalier or maybe Austria again or why not, Italy as I am Italian and never skied in Italy (doh!).

Looking to spend no more than 450£ all in for weekend and 750 all in for week.
Chalet or hotel but would prefer board included.

thank you so much for your suggestions.

Snowheadette, you'll have far more choice if you do a week, departing on a Saturday or Sunday. Might get some good last minute bargains if you're flexible about destination. Are you a single traveller? That always puts the price up, if you don't want to share. If you are young, and don't mind sharing, some of the holidays in UCPA centres (look at Action Outdoors) are very good value.

Hi I would be going either as a couple or with some friends so not on my own. Was considering Saturday to Saturday but worried about snow conditions more than anything else.
Is it best to book last minute then? In that case, worried about availability....

Your budget is tight (IMO) but I know some people on here do arrange some incredibly well budgeted trips. Stating the obvious you need high resorts.

My own research into short trips and full weeks has taught me one thing. The cost difference between 4 days and 7 can be as little as £150. Lift passes, ski hire and accommodation is not much more for 7 days so if you can go for 7 days then do so.

I imagine April has lots of accommodation options as it is not peak season.

Snowheadette, Cervinia in Italy will be good as it is high and there are some deals available from UK usually.
In fact first week of April should be still good in most places, Arabba in Dolomites or maybe even Sestiere in Milky Way. Again there should be deals to Milky Way.

In Austria go higher up - Solden, Ischgl, or maybe one of the glaciers - Stubai. I do not think it will be easy to find better deals to those places than those in Italy.

In France - Val Thorens, Tignes, Les Deux Alpes (good for deals) and many more resorts with higher altitude.

Almost certainly whole week if book last minute or on a good deal will be cheaper and easier than organising DIY weekend.

check lift opening dates - I think I read on SHs recently that the Sella Ronda area lifts start closing earlier than some.

Tom W - Thank you for the suggestions, I think I will be sticking to Italy and check out a late deal for a week, may as well right?

pam w, I think I read that too.

Snowheadette, If you can hold your nerve and book late the big TO's and some of the smaller guys will probably have cracking deals as they get bums on planes and people in chalets for the last few weeks.

Good luck.

Do you have mates that are coming or are you tracvelling independently - I was offered a nice room in chalet in ValDI before xmas on a bargain but then there was the small matter of £400 single supplement...
