Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Swiss flights warning

Those of you making travel plans based on the Manchester-Zurich Swiss flight LX391, especially those making onward train or flight connections at Zurich, should be aware that this flight is commonly late arriving in Zurich, very often 40-60mins late. This makes for very difficult or missed connections. The flight is scheduled to depart Manchester 0840hrs but for operational reasons does not depart before 0900hrs, factor in other issues such as ATC, technical, weather, etc., and a 60 min delayed arrival in Zurich is common place. The flight sometimes makes up some of the time deficit en route but not routinely.
I frequently use this service both for ski trips and for long haul connections.

You'd have thought they'd just change the scheduled departure time to 0900 from Manchester then! Strange...

denfinella, I suggested that to the Swiss crew who told me that LX391 had a "slot" departure time of 0900hrs at Manchester, they couldn't give me an answer. It would make sense to publish a more accurate departure time rather than one that seems to theoretical.
I have raised the issue with Swiss customer service both by email and in person at Zurich, neither offered any acceptable explanation. Zurich suggested the problem lay with U.K. ATC and was less than complimentary about it!
