Poster: A snowHead

As per the title.
Lovely day at Glenshee today, except for my Atomic boots which I've lost patience with and will be going in the skip!! There are lots of issues with them not least that in max 5 weeks skiing they have packed out so much that I have extra freestanding tongues to take up space, boots done up to max yet still have movement on the one hand and squashed calf muscles on the other. I am done with them.
I've had brilliant Salomons in the past when I needed a beginner boot, these Atomics were more of a performance boot bought after I'd done a season, custom fitted, footbeds, heel lifts etc. So going to give Salomons a try again but have just stumbled across the Fischers. Since I have chunky calf muscles, narrow heels and a wide-ish forefoot I wonder if the fact that the whole boot, inner and shell is moulded may just provide me with the answer.
Obviously will be speaking with shop re all this but would be interested to hear of opinions, good or bad.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I have some and they are amazing, my lower leg and ankle are all over the place, and the vacu-fit process allows me for the first time to stand flat on my skis without serious ankle bang. I have the vacu fit 110 and they are a great resort boot. I've skied roughly 80 days in the boots 14 month life and they are keeping there stiffness and nothing has broken on them . There are probably much better boots out there technically but for anyone with difficult feet they are definitely worth it.

skismurf75, A friend seems to have a lot of luck getting boots from Alain Baxter, might be worth a visit?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Didn't even know his workshop existed! I think I shall give that a try - hopefully a bit more specialised than Blues or Ellis-Brigham who are really my only other options.

Recommend Banks of Perth - they do for my entire family (of 6!) and always had brilliant service. They work really hard on the boot fitting and are delighted if you come back after a few days skiing for some further adjustment. Given them a go.

Thanks to all for thread links and suggestions. Can't wait to get this remedied, uncomfortable nights sleep trying to avoid weight of duvet on shins and calves in agony this morning - it shouldn't be like this!!!
