Looking for some advice....
First time self catering for a while; can anyone point me at any apartments in resorts that will probably still have snow for Easter (so probs base of 15-1800m+) with supermarkets close by as we plan to ski hard all day and then try and cook in the evening...

L2A has always been good at Easter for me. Resort at 1650 - 1800m, skiing up to 3600m. Several supermarkets in resort, the U is more or less the same price as the valley and stocks a decent range, larger Casino down in Bourg D'Oisans. There will be loads of apartments available then. I'll be there for all of April.

Why so high? Plenty of cheap apartments to be had in, for example, Termignon. There's at least one minimarket in town and a descent-sized supermarket on the outskirts about 10 minute's walk away. The lift goes straight up into Val Cenis which, barring a heat wave, will still offer plenty of skiing.

OK Easter is very late this year. 1800 may be on the low side. However, almost every high resort will have a lot of self catering and hence shops to supply them. The usual candidates: Tignes, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, Courcheval 1550, Les Arcs will be your best choice. And of Course Bourg st. Maurice will offer spring in the valley, hypermarkets and funicular to Les Arcs

Chalet Altitude in Arc 2000 has a supermarket on the ground floor and a couple of others within easy walking. Anywhere in Arc 1950 appeared to be close to everything including a supermarket.

Zermatt, Sass Fee and others in Switzerland would also do you.

Pierre & Vacance apartments in Belle Plagne give you the elevation. But the local shop (easy walking distance) hardly qualifies as a supermarket but probably has all you'd need for basic catering.

Dubaian, it's a Spar isn't it. Not a huge variety but we did ok. Only found frozen mince there - sold as Bolognaise...it wasn't great

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Those apartments are good for popping back to at lunch time too

You know it makes sense.

Tignes 1800 (previously les Boisses) is a great area, bit away from the more mainstream areas of Tignes, and with large Spar supermarket built into one of the apartment blocks. Ski out and (almost) ski in also.

scooby_simon, if your looking for great ski conditions, cheap price for the apartment (maybe a little worn out) I'd go for Les Arcs 1800,if you looking for great ski conditions, great accommodation ( comes with a bit of a price) I'd go for Les Arcs 1950....Both have supermarkets (1950's a bit more expensive) but it's a 2 floor Spar, you won't be stuck for choice, can't remember what 1800's is.....Arc 1950 was built by the same people that built Whistler, The village is completely "ski in–ski out" and the hotels and apartments have by far the highest standard and comfort level in Les Arcs. It moves away from concrete buildings as it's an old Alpine Wooden style.... If your looking for somewhere cosy and warm, Arcs 1950 is your place.... Hope you find the place for you!

I watched Arc 1950 being built. I can confirm that under the wooden cladding and dinseyesque styling Arc 1950 is a good solid concrete building underneath.
Les Arcs closes on the Saturday following Easter. The Closing Saturday is interesting as the pistuers follow you down removing piste markers. And there are parties and barbeques everywherer.
