Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Looking for Italy trip

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hallo. I really want to go skiing in Italy, it's been some years since I last skied in France & Austria, loved Austria but never been to Italy so wanna give it a go. None of my pals are interested in skiing & the ones who do ski feel they're past it even tho they're only in their 30's. I hear the Dolomites & Sella Ronda are the best, is this the case? Also looking at Courmayeur. I'm much more likely to sort it out if I go with a group, I'm an intermediate skier but rusty, prefer downhill skiing to cross country, enjoy a drink, good food, music. Ideally looking to go end of Feb but am flexible as I'm self employed. Any advice appreciated Blue

This could get interesting.....

The 22 Feb - 1 March we are staying at www.foerstlerhof.com The accomodation has been arranged by someone else in the group, but he assures me that the ski bus stops outside. It was certainly my intention to ski around Kronplatz. I thought that was where the hotel was. I have just looked at the hotel website for the first time and I see it looks like it is miles away from Kronplatz.

Hmmmmmmm. Puzzled

I can tell you that I have arranged the flights. We are based up in North Cumbria and will be travelling to Manchester Airport. We are flying with Monarch to Friedrichshafen then by hire car to.... well, wherever this hotel is.

I shall ask my pal and post more later, probably tomorrow.

The March trip is definitely Kronplatz. I know this because I have organised it. Also, I have stayed there before, about half a dozen times.

If still interested in what could be good, could be, errrrrrrrr, interesting, let me know

Hmmmmm (again). Not yet spoken to Jon (who sorted out the hotel) but it looks like we will be staying in the Val Senales area in February, not Kronplatz.

Anyone interested in this for 8 - 15 March? 2 - 4 people, self catered or catered chalet, if catered they deliver continental brekki in morn which you can eat when you like, packed lunch & then evening meal in local restaurant with other Colletts http://www.colletts.co.uk/winter/chalet-el-table-ground-arabba/

I have heard good things about Colletts but not used them myself

As for the location of our February Kronplatz trip, I have now spoken to Jon who tells me that it IS in fact at Kronplatz.
The correct hotel website is www.foestlerhof.com whereas the one I was looking at was www.foestlerhof.it

So Jon is right. I was wrong. We are at Kronplatz after all

ElizabethLizzyLiz, there have been a number of reports about Colletts on snowheads - winter and summer - always very positive. I don't think you could go wrong with them, and Arabba (when not drowning in snow, as it was last week, with lifts and mountain passes all closed for days) would be a good location.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
Singlesport specialises in solo skiers by offering you someone to share with or with a reasonable supplement to occupy a twin room. We only have 2 female shares in Courchevel available on 15 March or we are applying to the hotel for more space in Cervinia on 6 april. If not Colfosco in Jan 2015.

ElizabethLizzyLiz, one option, though France not Italy unfortunately, is UCPA holidays, through Action Outdoors. Will be very much cheaper than Colletts, if that's a consideration!

Good to know for future ref but I really want to go to Italy. Colletts said they can look for a single hotel room plus I can still dine with other Colletts skiers at their table in the local restaurant if I wish so I won't be on my lonesome...

ElizabethLizzyLiz,

We are putting together an Italy trip in a self catered accommodation for 15 March. We will have between 6 and 8. total should be under 500 EUR, ex transport, incl ski pass. Just to bear in mind.. short list is Madonna di C. Corvara and Selva. We put Arabba off the list, as the link to Marmolada was taken out last week with an avalanche, and that was the main attraction to be Arabba..should that information change, Arabba could return to the short list.
