Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboarding lessons for 9 year old Les Arcs

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, I'm hoping someone can shed some light on whether snowboarding lessons will be available for my 9 year old son. ESF seems to start lessons at 12! Can anyone recommend an alternative school. I am looking to stay in Arc 2000. Many thanks, Faye

Have a look at Evolution-2. Not used them myself, but have heard good things from others...

I'm not sure I could say the same about ESF snowboard instruction for snowboarding. Ever. Anywhere.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hi, thanks for the link. Unfortunately their lessons are for 10years+!!!

Do you know of any other school that will cater for younger children?

Thanks

Really? *checks* WOW! Sorry for steering you wrong on that.
As your sons only just under 10, they may bend the rules and let him in - has he ridden before? If not why not try a private lesson - the age rules are much more flexable in if you're doing a private lesson (The instructor I spoke to said he'd take my 4YO on a lesson - his only rule was that Jnr was keen to learn and it wasn't just dad pushing him) He'll probably get more out of a couple of one-to-one tuition sessions than a week of group-hanging while Fast Pierre texts his chalet maids.

Its such utter rubbish that ski schools dictate that younger children "Aren't developed enough to snowboard" Its old pseudo-scientific nonsense dating back to when they were trying to keep snowboarding off the mountains and in its place back in the 80s.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

my twin girls (now 11) have had private lessons at both boarding and skiing from ESF in 1600 for at 4 years

no problems with age and as other poster said a few private lessons may be more benefit than a full course of group lessons
