Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

New Boots BSL - forward position

Hi,


I have a new pair of boots - the BSL is 307 compared to my current boots at 320.

I believe the bindings I have (Barons) will move me forward at least 5mm.

I posted this in the wrong forum.

Will this make much difference to ski performance? The ski is a whitedot preacher I ski on piste/off piste with them until I get another ski in my quiver, then hopefully retiring it for soft/deep days.

roscoeh, no. Just make sure that you bring your body's centre of mass back by 2.5mm IN ALL CONDITIONS!!

The C/L of the new boots will be 7.5mm ahead compared to your old ones. Theoretically the new position will be slightly better on hard stuff & slightly worse on soft snow but the holes would be too close to remounted so don't worry about. The Preachers should ideally be mounted on the FR line so you can easily check were the new location is. Don't forget to change your dins (you've now moved one column to the left on the din chart due to the shorter boot length which IIRC will actually increase your setting by 0.5) & to re-adjust the forward pressure & toe height correctly.
