Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Best ski locations from Munich

I'm flying in to Munich next month for a long weekend of skiing. Any recommendations for some good ski hills? I'm looking for at least a day or two of nice difficult technical runs with some opportunity for off pisteing but also want a bit of charm to go with it. I've spend the last two trips on hills rather than mountains so somewhere nice and steep would be good.

We are flying in on the friday night so plan on grabbing a car saturday morning and don't have to fly out again until monday at 9pm. That gives us three whole days to play with. Final itinerary will probably depend on what the snow is like but I also need to book hotels! I have heard Garmisch and Seefeld are supposed to be quite pretty which could be nice to warm up on the first day but where next? Mayerhofen? I'd preferably want to have a max 2 hour drive from the airport in the morning and then 2 back so I can get a a full day in on first and last day.

Thanks!

Oberstdorf. Linked by excellent bus to Kleinwalsertal, giving a reasonable sized piste area (certainly plenty for 3 days) good off piste. Direct train from Munich which is cheaper and easier than a car. Take S-Bahn from airport and vhange at Pasing for Oberstdorf train. Bayern ticket costs 26 € and can be used to cover several people (I think 5). Also ticks the pretty box Happy

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

St Anton too far? Maybe look at taking a train rather than driving?
