Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ewww smelly boots - any suggestions anyone?

I bought some Head Ezon ski boots off ebay (I know, not ideal but they only cost £15.00!). The reason being that I have large calfs and wide feet and have never once found a pair that fits and is comfortable when I have hired them (in fact in Austria last year, I missed a day's skiing as my toes had been so cramped that I couldn't bend them - the hire shop guy kept telling me they were fine!!!). They're in nice nick and my plan is to put the money I have saved into a proper boot fitting and new foot mouldings. Ok, the problem I have is that they don't smell nice at all. I've donned the rubber gloves today and washed them out in very lukewarm water and am leaving them to dry upside down (wasn't sure whether I needed to stuff them with paper or not). I will then febreeze them to bits.

My question is, is there anything else I can do? I read that bicarb of soda (though not sure if it should be diluted and dabbed on) is good, but am reluctant to do it in case it affects the liners. Does anyone have any "granny always swore by .............." tips please?

yeah bicarb will work, weirdly scrunched up pieces of news paper does as well, pack a load in....

I would have thought you leave the bicarbonate as powder. That's what we do in the fridge.

bug, didn't think of that; have just done a food shop Laughing Ok, my plan of action is to stuff them with newspaper, then when dry I'll sprinkle on bicarb then put in the freezer (when we've finished off the last packet of chips!).
