Hi All,
I have just been fitted for some boots, Dalbello Panterra 100, I am a bit surprised to find them uk size 7 1/2, 26.5 mondo I think. Is this something usual?
They still feel a bit tight but a square function better than any hire boots I have ever had.
I have worn them for about two hours so far, I had custom foot beds made that has cured my crippling arch pain.
I am making an assumption that I they are not fully broken in yet and may well be more comfortable after a days skiing.
Any help or advice, as always, greatly appreciated.

DB100, Sounds absolutely normal to me. My boots are smaller than my normal shoe size but are a perfect fit.

Pretty normal. The mondopoint label on mine are the equivalent of 1-1.5 UK (2-3 EU) sizes smaller than the normal shoe size I'd buy. And certain brands of cycling shoes are labelled about 2 sizes in the other direction.

I normally take 8 to 8.5 UK size - and 26.5 mondo. CEM could have squeezed me into even smaller if I wanted, but due to nerve damage issues I didn't want them too tight.

Shoe size 8/42, mondo size 26.5, so yes slightly smaller but I do need to allow for lymphoedema swelling so not advisable to go too small...

When I hired boots I always chose 27.5. Always did the job as far as I was concerned. This matched my shoe size. Got measured up for a pair and came out as 26.5. The fitter explained about toes (tight) moving away from the front when I skied properly and he was dead right. Problem is, I don't ski properly very often!

DB100, Normal....and if you can wear your ski socks in them now they are probably too big ! In my experience boots take a little while (several weeks) to bed in...

Not for a holiday skier? I wouldn't expect to ski for 2-3 years waiting for my boots to bed in...

This is is really interesting - I only rent boots, and always ask for the same size as my shoe size. I always have the clips done up to the tightest notch to make them feel tight enough - maybe I should just be asking for a smaller sized boot???

I got some new ski boots today in a 26, I usually wear a 7 or an 8 so they're at the lower end of the size if shoes I wear.

ask them to measure you. My boots are considerably smaller than my shoe size - not that you can really compare.

I'm off to the snow centre in Hemel tomorrow so might try a boot that's half a size smaller than my shoe size and see how I get on...

Handy Turnip, the boots in Hemel are gigantic. I have wide feet and a hammer toe and they all felt like barges.

Cheers pam w, that really helps! My concern over boot sizing first came after my last trip to Hemel, when I felt my feet were rattling around in the boots.

Got fitted a few years ago for first new pair of boots for more than 10 years. Was pretty surprised that the fitter wanted to get me into 25.5s, when I had been wearing 26.5s. It felt horrible. My feet were getting crushed... cutting a longish story short. Went with 26.0 which were still very tight at first, but they have packed down now and can almost see why he was recommending 25.5.
