Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A sneaky peak at Salomon's 2015 range.

Nothing revolutionary, and I note the absence of any BBR models, whether they are still to come, there's nothing new or they've been dropped, I don't know.

feef, nice one. X Drive 8.8 FS looks interesting - could be my kind of ski! Presumably more versatile/slightly softer than an Enduro but not as soft as a Q range ski so ideal for high speed all-mountain cruddy European skiing.

interesting that all the boots only have 1 leg buckle and 1 also only has 1 foot buckle. my current custom shells have have 2 leg and 2 foot buckles - much the same as most other boots. can any one shed any light on why the reduction in buckles on the new boots, i would have thought it would provide less of a close fit but i must be wrong on this assumption..

MogulMonkey,

Salomon have always had a reputation for innovation, or others might say clever marketing, depending on your point of view.

This reminds me of a long time ago when Salomon first marketed their re-entry boot with an emphasis on the ease of being able to fasten them. They enjoyed enormous success but gradually I think most people came round to the view that they were not in fact as efficient as front buckling boots, with the result that most manufacturers went back to producing four buckle boots which predominate now.

It looks to me as though Salomon might be trying the same tactic again as obviously two buckles are simpler to fasten than four. Hopefully I will not be in the market for new boots for several years yet, however even if I were, I would not want to be amongst the first buyers of these new Salomons.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I've got 4 buckle boots, I find that with the fat power strap done up at the top, the top buckle can be undone and not feel a HUGE difference in tightness. I suspect it might be something along those lines that the power strap is starting to take a more 'structural' role

Those boots are just from the backcountry/freeride Quest and Ghost ranges. The current ones are the same. They'll still have 4 buckle boots for all-mountain/race.

But it's also all that was reported from SIA.

I suspect there'll be far more at and after ISPO
