Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Courchevel taxis

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi I am staying with a group of friends in Courchevel 1550 in a few weeks. I know this is the quieter part of town so will need to get the free bus to the higher levels of Courchevel for a good night out.

Has anyone had any experience of the local taxis in resort? I know the local bus finishes at 1.30 am so want to know if it is easy to pick up a taxi after that and how expensive they are?

jh1706, welcome to snowheads. snowHead If you drink in 1850 till after 1.30 am you'll be clean out of money for a taxi. wink I paid €17.10 for two coffees and two croissants recently - it was 8 am so the cost of alcohol wasn't an issue.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Wow! That's insanely expensive!! We'll probably drink in our apartment but want to end up in a club at least one evening. Any idea on the cost of a cab down to 1550?

A club? In Courchevel 1850? If you have to ask, you can't afford it
(btw, how's your Russian?)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

The last time we stayed in 1850 there was a toboggan track down to 1550.If I remember rightly you paid for a teatray at the Tourist Information office. If you order you last round of drinks in the club & ask for a tray to carry them back to your table you could keep it & take the interesting route back to 1550-dont forget your headtorch Toofy Grin Toofy Grin Toofy Grin

a cab from the main town up to jardin alpine (a 5-10 min taxi, still within 1850) was €20/25 a pop. down to 1550, i wouldnt be suprised at >€40EUR.

Also note, the clubs are expensive, as you'd expect. good but expensive. make sure you check out le mangeoire and les caves, 2 great venues. bar le bal next door to mangeoire is good for drinks beforehand.

some of the best clubs i've come across in the french alps can be found in courchevel Laughing

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:
you can just leg it down the piste (more direct than the road!)
If you decide to sledge it do be careful as Frosty suggests there have been a few late night disasters doing that
