I'm arriving in BSM 06:00 on Saturday 18th, at the moment, I'm planning to get the local service bus to Val d. I'm on my own so taxi is expensive, is it better to pre book a ticket online for the bus or is it ok to buy one when I get there, (will the bus be fully booked?). When I got the bus from La Praz a couple of years ago, I was expected to have pre bought the ticket and got marched into the bus station to pay for the journey as the driver could/would not take payment on the bus.
I guess there's a slim chance of getting a lift with others on the train.

We just bought tickets in the station when we got there but it wasn't a Saturday so not sure how busy it gets so it might be a good idea to pre-book?
Actually on second thoughts I think the ticket office didn't open until around 8am although buses started to run at 7am so it would definitely be better to pre-book

tangowaggon, you can book and print your bus ticket from the altibus site.
I use the bus for La Plagne, and having the ticket already saves a bit of hassle (and worry), and allows time to grab coffee and croissant before the journey.

Yes you can buy there and then. But if you book a spot on a particular coach you will be able to queue jump legitimately, i.e. walk to the front and wave your booking. It does work, my wife did it 
OK, 6am is early, not sure when the coaches to Val d'I start, and there will be a lot of people arriving on the Eurostar and other means.

Sounds like you maybe hoping you will be able to share a lift from others, which to me sounds risky as if that fails, the buses maybe full. Being risk averse, i would prebook tickets on altibus, have used them before to la daille end of val disere no probs. Also you can sort out the return online at same time cost should be less than 20euro me thinks. Am using them from moitiers to LA Tania on sat and is 16euro return.
Piece of mind and no queuing for a closed ticket office!

There are always two large queues at BSM station when a Eurostart arrives - one for a bus ticket and one for the loos. You don't want to be stood in one when you would rather be in the other Buy a ticket on line!

Booked it online, just in time I think, my understanding of French read it as it must be booked 7 days in advance.
