Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val D'Isere to Meribel

I did find an old thread about this before, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

I need to get from Val D'Isere to Meribel on the 18th Jan. I've done a bit of hunting around and it looks like the only way is bus to Bourg, train to Moutiers and then another bus up to Meribel. Perfectly doable but a bit of a faff.

Anyone know of any better options (other than an expensive taxi) or tips? Or have I answered my own question?!

Ski to Tignes Les Brevieres, hitch to Villaroger, Ski to Champagny, hitch to Le Praz and Ski to Meribel.

Well, you could probably get a bus to Moutiers. Or, if you travel light, you could hitch. (I picked up two separate hitching ESF instructors on the road up to Courchevel 1850 last week).

More direct - ski to Tignes, lift up to Col de Palet, ski down the Friburge valley to Champany le Haut. Walk/hitch down to Champany en Vanoise. It's not that far - I've walked it (although not in ski boots!).

Or book a ski tour with these guys and they will bus you down to Champany en Vanoise.

Taxi/hitch/bus to Courchevel 1300 - Le Praz and you're into the 3V lift system.

Actually, if you had a taxi booked and waiting in Champany le Haut (assuming the roads are clear) this would be really quick.
