Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Another good example of why if possible it makes sense to take a guide

After a superb day (again) on Monday we were saying (maybe) it's just worth picking a couple of days to take a guide rather than shell out for a week long lift pass, and on the days you take the guide you just take a day pass, and with the holiday crowds you get priority over the hordes at the lifts, and probably nigh on the same cost as well if there's a group of you!

Here in Serre many of the classic routes here had not been done by off piste groups as of a couple of days ago, our guide said/thinks those leading are too paranoid about conditions. And there's the catch 22 as it were.

With more mates out we chose to ski with Mathieu here as opposed to going to La Grave, and take the other halves with us and that was a very good shout, and he was VERY cautious, as the picture below shows what you "get" when you go with a guide.

Red arrow shows him climbing back up after checking out a potential couloir

Looks a fantastic day out. I have lovely memories myself of those bowls, and my vid of the sides of the gully avi'ing as I went to turn down them. That's when I learnt to follow the guides line more accurately Laughing They do know what they are doing.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?
