Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Jasna Chopok Freeride Zones

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
hi all,

Haven’t seen anyone mentioning about Jasna/Chopok (Slovakia) freeride zones here so attaching a link below:

http://www.jasna.sk/en/activities-and-events/winter/freeride/

Most of the lines accessible by the gondola lift and traversing. Some need 15-20 min climbing/skinning. As you can see from pictures, possibilities are endless and enough fun for more than a week of riding. Anyone been skiing there?

Been snowboarding there & ridden in zones 10 and 11 (and possibly 12), traversing in from the top gondola. There's fun to be had in the trees too (both north and south sides). Great if the conditions are good (which they were last spring) - endless options.

I have spent a fair amount of time in Jasna. The resort is small in terms of piste but it more than makes up for it in terms of tree skiing and off-piste.

There a few big free ride zones as mentioned above. Previously they were quite inaccessible due to poor lift access and high wind problems being regular. However, there is a new "wind-proof" gondola lift that goes all the way to the summit. I haven't been back myself since it was installed but i have heard good stuff about it.

I'm not sure what the Slovakian avalanche control is like. I never saw any control in my two seasons there.

Here is a video from the Freeride World Tour Qualifier that was held there when i was last there.
