Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Christmas dinner in Avoriaz

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Heading to Avoriaz tomorrow and just wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of where we should book for Christmas dinner? I presume it will be a bus night so want to book early when we reach resort.

Will a standard turkey/ ham Christmas dinner be available?

Christmas Eve is the big night in France - and finding turkey and ham is very unlikely. (Foie Gras, Oysters etc are much more likely on a Christmas dinner menu)

Have a look on Trip Advisor for restaurant suggestions and when you get to Avoriaz check out what special menus the restaurants are offering nnd then book.

Christmas eve and New year's eve book out very quickly, I would recommend calling into likely restaurants as soon as you arrive to get in. It will be a slap up meal, so I doubt if the American standard of turkey and ham will be available. As simplysnow, says foie gras and especially oyseters are very much christmas fare in France.

On the other hand, if you are prepared to wait until Christmas day then the restaurants will be very quiet and you may find yourself the only one there.

Thank you for the responses. We will just book our preferred Restaurants rather than try and track down turkey and ham.

24 hours and counting! Can't wait.

Le Bistro makes a change from the usual stodgy ski resort fayre, they still have raclette and whatnot, but so much more besides:

Le Bistro books up very quickly! We went over new years last year and were unable to book a table. We went to a restaurant opposite but I can't remember the name. We had a very nice meal there, raclet, steak etc

Going back there 5th Jan, looking forward to it but hope they get a big dump of the white stuff!
