Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Traveling to Sauze 1st feb help info on transport or car/taxi share

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi There
Im a newbie so apologies if Im posting in the wrong Place. Couldn't seem to find individual resort sections, but if there is a Sauze D' Oulx section could someone let me know Ta

Anyway we're off and our first family ski holiday to Sauze on 1st Feb Ive done a diy option and thought Id done good but got a bit shock with the transfer prices for coach or even taxi. I know there is the option to do the bus, train and then another bus but not sure I fancy this, Im guessing it will take a good few hours. Does anyone know long it takes and then maybe getting a taxi from the train station to Sauze for the last leg, if anyone knows the approx cost the taxi would be?

Or is there anyone who is traveling on a early morning flight on the 1st who's going our way or even close and maybe share the cost of a taxi or car hire. Theres myself, son and other half so can only be one or two people max

Anyway be great if anyone can help me
Many Thanks
Vickie

vickieward77,
Try contacting James at http://www.sauzeonline.com. He can arrange all sorts of things for Sauze. I haven't booked transfers through him, but his ski hire and ski school are very reasonable.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Or around 2.5 hrs by train I think (which looks to be a very cheap option).

Hi Sugar Thanks for link, yep we're flying into Turin, I just hope we can go by car as the hr or so drive seems much more appealing than the 2 1/2 plus by public transport and changing 3 times. Especially with luggage and a probably a moaning 15 yr old haha

Anyone know how far the train station is from the airport and rough prices as maybe we could get taxi to the train station and then taxi at the other end that would be so much better Ta

from http://www.sauzeonline.com/travelling-to-sauze/

There is the option of taking a bus from the airport terminal to the main train station in Turin (Porta Nuova). Tickets for this can be bought from a machine in the arrivals hall and cost around €5.00. Allow 30 mins for journey time. From Porta Nuova you can catch a train to Oulx. Tickets will be around €15.00. Journey time around 90mins. Once at Oulx train station there is a regular bus service to Sauze d’Oulx, cost €5.00. Journey time around 15mins. It is a relatively easy journey to make although with lots of baggage it can be frustrating.

vickieward77, Try taxi, hire car or private transfer?

edit: Sauze online website reckons 35 euro per person one way for a transfer.

Hi Thanks guys I had looked into the public transport I may get the train but still wondering if anyone knows how far the station is from the airport and then cost of a taxi to the station and then a taxi at the other end just to rule out the bus part. 70 euros for a taxi return would be fine but theres me, my other half and son so 210 e is way more than ive budgeted for,I could go away for a short break for that haha!

The thing is we had an amazing package deal booked with everything apart from flights for under £300 it inc hb accommodation , transfers, lift passes euip and lessons, but unfortunately the hotel had a break in and leak and cant open this season so have had to go into administration..Id booked flights to Turin so still wanted to go but now having to book everything individually for 3 times the price, I trying to do the best I can

Im hoping there may be another couple going our way on the same date, but this is probably a long shot
Cheers

vickieward77, You could probably hire a car for about £100 for the week, fuel won't cost much (less than half a tank?). Might be a bit of a squeeze in a clio or megane if you've got skis but doable.

Hi -

Bus from the airport to Porta Nova is easiest. Taking the train means changing stations - and the bus is much less expensive than a taxi. Taxi costs 35-50 Euros each way

You can find the information you need here http://www.aeroportoditorino.it/en/passeggeri_en/trasporti_en/bus_en.html

Book your train tickets Turin-Olux here https://www.italiatrains.co.uk/

and a taxi Oulx Station <> Sauze d'Oulx for 3 persons costs 20 euros each way & you can book it here http://www.sauzetaxi.it/ - the owner speaks English

Alternatively : if the times fit with your flights take a coach from the Aiprort to Oulx station and the taxi from Oulx : 68 euros return for the coachhttp://www.cavourese.it/default.asp?lang=e

Or - hire a car for a week. With Auto Europe the cheapest is about £132 including snow chains - or you can get a Ford Fiesta for about £143 including snow chains.

Very Happy

Thanks Half Hand and Simply Snow...Youve been really helpful and I now have the info I wanted..

The taxi to the train station is probably out now if 50 e...pitty its not to resort

I still dont know what to do I seem to be going round in circles trying to decide what to do adding everything up...Ive had a look at the trains but cant look check prices for 1st feb as can only do up to 7 days in advance but if I looked for now it will be 19.05e for the 3 of us one way and the same return so this would be about £30 return on the train which seems great, Im just wondering if they increase in price further into the season, does anyone happen to know?

I think someone mentioned buses price for the airport to the train station is about 5e is this about right? Then not much at the other end to suaze, a couple or E...Its looking like this is going to be the cheapest option not that Im fancying it, but the other half dont wana drive and Im useless in uk never mind it italy in the snow hahah

Im wondering do I need to book the train tickets before I go or can we get at the station and at the same price? I didnt want to pre book incase we manage to get an earlier train

The only thing is Im a sucker for organisation and like to have everything organised prior to going so we all know whats happening and when etc.. especially with having to deal with a stressed other half and son who I know will be questioning me on what we are doing, but I guess with this one I just have to print the times off and go with the flow when we get there, as Im not sure how long getting our luggage will take and then the bus and so on, so its gona have to be a roll with it and see hey!

I guess I just have to remember, there is trains, buses etc...and we can get to the resort so I should not fret...If money was no object Id be getting a taxi for sure or even the coach would do

ANyway Many Thanks guys your help is much appreciated Very Happy
