Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better!
Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi All,
A short piece of advice- when traveling through Saint-Exupéry airport with ski equipment, make sure you print the airlines terms and conditions!
For certain destinations
Lufthansa
etc offer free ski+boot transport provided you register ahead. The problem is that the local check in staff at Lyon are simply not aware of
the rules
applicable to each airline.
We had a long discussion with them and they refused to let us check in the boot bags as well as the skis. The same happened to us earlier in the year when traveling with baby stuff through Lyon, and the only solution seems to be to print out all the relevant T&C from your carrier. Note that the e-tickets alone don't have the relevant information.

Many check-in staff are jobsworths. Give some people a little bit of power and they enjoy exerting it and causing a bit of misery.
Obviously you need to complain strongly to
Lufthansa
and maybe they will then put a bit of pressure on to the handling agents to train their staff better.

To be fair, although there was lots of the usual "C'est impossible!" etc, they were polite and just did not seem to know
the rules
. In the end they just gave us extra hand luggage tags for the boot bags, which fortunately did not cause problems later on with staff at the gates. Nevertheless,

have already received a polite email!
