Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Preorder lift pass?

Hello all, Apart from the convenience of having your lift pass available when you get to the Chalet is there any real saving to be had this way?, not yet ordered mine. To be honest i quite like the stroll to the lift pass office first thing on the first day.

Sometimes it isn't a convenience as the rep doesn't get there until late however most have passes to hand on the transfer coach (if going with a TO)

Sometimes Crystal and the like offer a 2 for 1 on certain passes if you book with them so its a no brainer.

Generally the lift pass desk is at a base station anyway so no problem if you get your own.

Think i may wait as don't get paid until just before holiday , i imagine pre-ordering only saves a couple of euros or so

Pre-ordering can save a bit.

Last year we waited until we arrived, however the exchange rate that the TO was offering on passes was terrible so we refused to go through them and got our own direct first thing in the morning. Didn't have to queue at all, saved enough for a decent lunch and still got the first lift.

depends where you are going, who with, when and if you plan on returning frequently or not.

We have a couple of resorts passes, and we can top them up online or add extra linked resorts on the internet as and when we need them. If the snow is bad or is great we can add extra linked resorts (where applicable) in the morning over breakfast if needed.

If you're coming to the US, buying a season pass in Oct/Nov could well be much cheaper than a week/ten day version for the holiday. I've bought the Rocky Mountain Superpass (season) for $489

Varies from resort to resort.

Some now let you buy/recharge online. PdS we doing an up to 20% discount for passes bought online before December for example.

Some offer a discount if you're staying in the resort, rather than outside and driving in each day. Ischgl does this and while I'm sure if your German's good-enough you can get the evidence you need from your hotel and walk up to buy your pass with discount it's much easier to just get the TO to do it.

One issue that guests may encounter with their T/O is that although they may arrive in resort fairly early, the reps only want to make one trip to the lift ticket office and so they wait until all the guests have arrived in resort. This also ensures that guests have to go to the Welcome Meeting in order to pick up their passes. In some resorts, weekly passes are valid from 14.00 or 15.00 the day before - i.e. a weekly pass starting on Sunday can be used for an hour or so on Saturday afternoon. So if you are due to arrive in resort in good time to have some lunch and ski on Saturday, think about buying your ticket in resort.

Many of the hotels in Saalbach (and presumably in other resorts) issue lift passes at the reception desk.
