Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

One Wild Winter in Scotland

Quote:
The winter of 2012 was one of the coldest, longest and busiest on record in the Scottish mountains. It was also one of the deadliest. Fourteen lives were lost as extreme weather and a series of lethal avalanches hit the Highlands.

Blending dramatic archive material and footage recorded by people who live, work and play in this environment, this film will reveal what really happened on the mountains and find out how a major meteorological phenomenon helped shape what was truly a unique winter.

Well worth a watch.

feef, Thanks for that. Such a good piece of film. Non judgmental, gentle and with so many lessons to teach. It brought a tear to my eye on a number of occasions and also made me realise how lucky I have been.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Yeah, thanks for the link. I'm not too keen on their "dramatic archive" style, but the original segments were well done, and I do know several of the people in it.

i tend to agree - the portentous voice-over jarred a bit. But some incredible footage and very moving words from the parents and friends of some of those who died - much more natural. Sad and accepting - and not in the least portentous. I shed some tears too. The mountain rescue participants were impressive - and also not portentous. Straightforward and strong.

A fabulous piece of film about Scotland and its unpredictable harsh winter climate - essential viewing .
