Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snow Train

I'm looking to do a 3 night trip to Tignes in January. The last time I did this I took the Eurostar to Gare du Nord, transfered to Gare d'Austerlitz and on to BSM. From memory we went on a Thursday night (about 17.00), arriving Friday am (7ish) and returned on Monday night, departing around 9.00 in the evening.

So what's the problem?

Can't seem to find any combination that will allow this. Well there was one that only had Business class available which was a budget breaking £380.00 return!

Anyone know if things have changed? I can't believe the options have already been booked up.

Thanks.

Hi Mark, have you contacted any of the companies directly that are identified in the sticky in the trips thread? http://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=2561

There are a number of useful phone numbers there.

Ok cheat,

Paris to BSM return in a couchette using a Prem fair is arround £67, London to Paris Return is £59 return as long as you have one night away, use the raileurope website and book the two trips rather than London to BSM total cost under £130 return or about 1/3rd the price, by the way I just checked these fairs using 2nd week in Jan

Mark Hunter, something odd is going on with the Rail Europe site.
If you try and book the whole journey with Rail Europe my fair came to £437!!
But if you book each stage individually, then the Eurostar to Paris is £59 return, and Austerlitz to Bourg is £69 return, making a total of £128.
Warning: the Austerlitz fare is about to rise by £10 each way (according to the site).
So book it that way Mark.

Whoops: young Orf beat me to it. As he did, I went for out on Jan 12th, and back on Jan 16th.

Thanks for the info! I've opened a new thread specifically about weekend trips. I've called it Weekend Trips.

Originality rarely a strong suit with me...

magriggs, for PREMS which are the special offers they can be booked netween 14 - 90 days prior to the last date of travel. They do get booked out quickly. You can also book via the SNCF website www.sncf.fr there is a English translation but the system is very old and cluncky and presupposes a knowledge of SNCF journeys and likely train times, they don't make it easy.

I know from booking the trains for the boys to come out to Serre Che in December that the fares weren't online until 60 days before. I found fares on SNCF that weren't available on RAil Europe, and othes on TGV site that weren't on SNCF.

sncf fares are bookable ~90 days before.
Euro* fares are bookable ~60 days before.

The SNCF site often shows journeys that are not available to book yet whereas the Rail Europe site tends to show only those which can be booked.
