Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Anyone organise ski weekends?....

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
.....looking for 28 people for the last weekend in Jan (30/1 - 2/2) at a reasonable sized resort.

Ideally all in one place but happy to be split across 2 hotels / chalets in the same resort

Want to keep the travel & accommodation cost to as close to £600 per head as poss (obviously plus ski hire / lift passes etc)

Drop me a note if you have availability.

I plan to book it this week so there is some urgency on this.

Thanks

Thanks, spoken to a few of these types of companies but availability is an issue bar some small resorts in Austria.

I was hoping (maybe lazily) that someone on here may do this and have availability in a decent resort

14 rooms, with twin beds is what we are after. We understand that the budget is tight

These two statements appear contradictory

IIRC we went to Gressony last year for a weekend and the accommodation, food, flights, car hire and airport paking were under £300 per person. The flights were Easyjet Luton to Milan (good, but not very reliable schedule), two nights in the hotel Gressoney with an evening meal on the Saturday night.

That doesnt sound like a tight budget at all, we are doing four nights in a luxury chalet, for 550 per head, although only for two of us.

Book Easyjet flights and organise accomodation separately would be my advice. If you fly to geneva (and if thats outside of school hols!?) I would have thought there would be various options, probably Morzine the easiest and cheapest of the big resorts. Only problem you may have is that the first to book flights may pay a very different price to the last, if you phone easyjet, or whoever your cheap flights are from, they may be able to give a group price.

Interesting comments on the budget, all of these ski weekend companies are charging £600 bottom end, there are a few at less than that but not many. The vast majority are from £800 upwards.

We have tried to look at organising it all separately and if there were only 10 of us it wouldn't be an issue, as soon as you say 28 people, you can here the hotel / chalet owner on the other end of the phone laughing.

That Gressony trip sounds mega cheap, might bank that one for the boys trip!

SkiG - is that for a week or weekend? If we wanted a week, it would easy for that budget as everything in the Alps seems to be geared week to week. As soon as you want a long weekend, the price weirdly seems to go up!

trainee snowboard jedi, it's not that weird. A long weekend cuts across two letting weeks leaving the owner/operator with empty beds at either end. They MAY sell to people wanting a short break involving weekdays, but to mitigate what may well be a loss of those days, the owner/operator can charge a premium for those for whom a long weekend is the most convenient. Hence also the laughter at a group of 10 or 28; 5 rooms taken up against 14.

trainee snowboard jedi, Since for a weekend it is cost effective to hire a car we usually stay in the valley and drive up to the resort - Gressoney for Monte Rosa, Cluses for Flaine, Crolle for Les Sept Laux, Aime for La Plagne (that one was not so easy to find)

Have you tried speaking to Interski? As they do school trips as well as other holidays they're used to dealing with large groups.

trainee snowboard jedi, Ah, you may have hit the problem on the head there, it is kind of for a weekend, but arriving on the saturday, for three nights. That is what causes the issue I think for you-the friday arrival.

Have you tried the chalets direct solutions room? Its an awfully big number of people, so Im not sure you will find anyone, but would be worth a shout. You could try any area, and then see if flights can be sorted. Might be somewhere that would offer you a couple of chalets, or maybe even get together with another local chalet owner and split it. Worth a go. If you try it make sure you put that the dates are not flexible in the description, otherwise you will get some irrelevant offers
