Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Orelle into VT for a day trip

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Thinking of spending our last day in the Maurienne(end of Jan) going into the 3V from Orelle. Any tips and advice much appreciated such as where to park, arrival and leaving times, buying pass in advance etc. Thanks

Some answers might be on here: http://www.orelle.net/index.php?page=slopes_map_orelle_val_thorens

Some good ski areas in Haute Maurienne - where will you be based?

There's a big car park just ouside the telecabine; couldn't be easier!

Be careful on a sunny weekend . . . The Italians come times swamp the car park so get here early . . . . Otherwise really easy.

You should decide where you will have a pass to. For a day, the basic Orelle/VT will be enough but you would be able to get to Courchevel if you wanted to and are reasonable skiers.

9am start but don't miss the last lift back into the Orelle Valley from VT at the end of the day. . .. but once you are in the Orelle valley don't worry they won't let the Orelle bubble go without you!! Don't be tempted to try and ski back into Orelle at the end of the day . . .it can sometimes be done at that time of year but will involve some walking.

Many thanks; spending the week at Val Cenis again... possibly the best value resort that I have been to. Nearly went to St Sorlin D`Arves but maybe next time

The Orelle site states that the day pass for VT etc needs a VALID Maurienne pass, but our pass would finish the day before; does that mean that we need a 7 day Val Cenis pass?

Think you need a valid Maurienne pass to get a discounted day ticket otherwise you will pay the full price. Prices are on the Orelle site about €42 for a day for Orelle /ValT.

cstreat, It can be worth a day trip to Orelle, but it only really highlights how great the other Maurienne resorts are. I would suggest maybe a day at Bonneval, La Norma, or ValFrejus.

Might be worth looking at the Eski-Mo ski pass that covers the 5 resorts in the valley.

Eski-Mo pass is only valid for some resorts at the end of the valley. For the whole valley you need the Ski Maurienne Sans Frontieres pass. However, this won't be of any use to cstreat because you need to use a different resort each day.

What sort of skiing are you looking for? I've been to most of those resorts a few times now and have a good idea what each is like.

You really should. Stayed in St Jean last year, and had a fantastic time. St Sorlin itself is IMHO better located and possibly where I would go next time I go to Sybelles, or maybe Bottieres.
