I stayed there for 10 days a few years ago and didnt really rate it. Location was good fir hotel with ski to door but that ment we were at the bottom of the hill so when going out at night had to walk up hill quite away, then you roll home. But the night life wasnt all that, a few bars that were busy but no real real atmosphere.
The 3 valleys is a great area but preferred the feel of meribel.

There's about a dozen things a resort could be the worlds best for and most are mutually exclusive,
Best for
if you're on a budget vs if you want exclusivity
reliable snow vs tree line skiing
etc etc
A bit of a pointless award methinks

I'm a big fan of VT, but then I'm quite new to skiing so haven't gone to many places to compare it to! Love the fact that every where's ski in/ski out, and am a big fan of the folie douce.
But everyone wants something different from a ski resort so these kind of awards are pointless IMO, as long as a resort ticks all your particular boxes and there's good snow then that's all that counts

That's as far as I got too
Cunning of them to try to get people to go to Val Horrens - after which of course they will inevitably long for the breathable air and affordable food of the Tirol

Quite. If I never go to the Folie Douce it would be too soon. The best resort is the one where you have a great holiday with good company and enjoy a bit of skiing along the way.
