Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

First snow in Yad Moss. The alps it ain't, but I was skiing on some 30cm of lovely powder during Easter weekend this year. http://www.yadmoss.co.uk/. This is my first time posting so not sure if I'm adding the website link correctly.

Has Yad Moss sneaked over the border from Durham to Cumbria?

In the six or seven years that we've been going there (from the Durham side) it's always been a few miles past the Welcome to Cumbria sign. Also, it's just after a sign showing you are on Alston Moor....which is definitely in Cumbria.

It's the Weardale and Harwood slopes of the Nth. Pennines that are in County Durham

Ah! I have been looking at the wrong Yad Moss on the OS maps. http://www.streetmap.co.uk/img.srf?image=NY73NE80.gif&loc2=07&type=O&road=Y
I would have followed the map and ended up in the wrong place (just)

Nope. Its been in Cumberland (now Cumbria), since the 13th century. The confusion is that it lies just above the source of the south Tyne and not far from Teeshead. Geographically it should really be part of Durham but is connected to Cumbria through the mineral rights associated with the church based at Carlisle.

Just to confuse things further the area is marketed here as 'Cumbria, the lake district'!
