Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Sunglasses Wish List!

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Okay folks lucky me needs new sunglasses for the coming season. What do you recommend and why? Just so you know I have accumulated a full set of very good equipment over the last couple of years and this is the missing link. I had a pair of Alpina dual lensed thingies but they are scratched and ruined now. Also, it would need to be very hot and very sunny for me to wear glasses instead of goggles so I really only need lenses for sunshine rather than pink, flat light lenses.

I haven't skied in a pair of sunnies for ages.

I'd still go for something with interchangeable lenses if I were you, something like the Oakley Racing Jacket.

Probably stating the obvious here, but whatever you get go with polarised. It amazes me how many of the higher end sunnies are not

Sunglasses is one place I go cheap and cheerful as they are going to get broken, left in mountain bars or otherwise destroyed or lost. Aldi/Lidl/Decathlon do the job and not the end of the the world when they need to be replaced.

I got a pair of these last season:

Interchangeable lenses. As goggles they're great (even under a lid) and also good as sunnies when skiing more "gently".

As a specs wearer, this really annoys me. There is really nothing wrong with this, if one takes precautions.

Bolle Spiral with Gray polarised lenses Smile .. Brilliant for skiing, but also just as good for casual summer wear. Mine are permanantly attached to my head (In the past 4 years, I warn out 3 pairs of them!).

+ 1 for the oakley jawbones or rather racing jackets as i think they are called now. Work fine with a helmet when it's hot enough. And you will like the endless options for lenses...

I did have those adidas elevation ones but found the lens changing very fiddley indeed.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Guys, you can take all the precautions you like, but if you wear sunnies with a helmet - you will be laughed at, and deservedly so!

Just saying. Cool

Having read the banter above about helmets and glasses, I can now recall why I never ski in glasses anymore Laughing
