Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

The rest of their education resources are well worth a read too.

thanks for the link - it will be interesting to see how this evolves - I assume there is high tech software to simulate avalanches but possibly not in the public domain yet - if anyone has any links/info then please post as it is interesting
Here is one I found but not that high tech

Try this link http://riskacademy.grforum.org/pages_new.php/White-Risk---eLearning-application-/689/1/606/608/ and whilst I haven't tried them, there are now apps which you can download for route finding and other educational stuff. Google "white risk".

Perty, I've got a mac too, worked fine. Little awkward to draw the line accurately all the way up with the way the touchpad works; 'click' down with one finger and draw with another.

Just remember to adjust what you learn for the northern hemisphere. Toofy Grin

Is it flash? It doesn't work on my iPad.

Good fun, and educational. Bit fiddly to draw an accurate line, one pixel off line and you're into the red zone, frustrating. Reminds me of one of those squiggly wire/buzzer games

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

nice idea but the punishment for being one pixel out is severe and almost impossible to draw the exact line you intend. would be nice to get an overlay of the "expert" preferred route at the end. too.

So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

+1

would be good to show all the alternate routes and the danger zones after completion

 You know it makes sense.

I hadn't noticed before, but the "safe" routes are (just about) the easiest routes up too.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

That was good but should be more relating to orientation of slopes (and relation to wind) which is extremely important.

And their suggested line for the 'down'.

Not sure why they are doing it uphill but the safest line uphill will usually be the safest down too.
