Does anyone know if someone would be willing ( for a few quid if course) to take to guys from st anton to lech for a days skiing, and then back again after 4ish, might be a good way of us avoiding the bus and someone getting some beer money? Would be in march but I'm trying to plan ahead cos the lack of links in the resort is an annoyance I am not used to after skiing the three valleys etc a lot, if someone is in resort or plans to be give me your details and it's win/win I think!!!!

Just ring a Lech taxi to pick you up from Alpe Rauz or you can slum it on the free bus from there if you get your timing right. Far easier than trying to co-ordinate with others. Don't know why people think the lack of a lift is such a big deal.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

It's the cost, your already paying for a lift pass for something that you can't get to without a taxi! So really the lift pass cost is not the actual cost if you wanted to go over to lech a number of times! I'm sure it would add up , in the three valleys it's all connected and takes about 10 mins to get to the slopes of val thrones or meribel if you are staying else where , so it is not just expensive but annoying too , that's why I'm trying to find ways of doing it as cheap as poss

I've been to St Anton four times and been over to Leach each time, the cost of the bus ride was less than beer money and was miniscule compared to the cost of the holiday. It is a total non issue, in fact it may even have been covered by the lift pass.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I agree it's a non-issue. The bus is free with the lift pass but does tend to get a little crowded at peak times but there is an alternative bus which you have to pay for which is less busy and of course a cab?
It's not annoying just part of the set up for the days you choose to ski around the corner. So you have to plan a little. Get over it.

So what's wrong with the free bus then?!

10 minutes?
So, anyway, get the free bus and stop moaning. You haven't compared beer prices yet.

Fair point on the beer prices! Just had bad experiences waiting round for buses in the past. Don't like having to ski down the mountain to a taxi rank or bus stop jut to get another part of a resort that's what I mean .

Neil, surely you are taking the wee wee?!? You have 2 bus options, one free, and a taxi option... but you want a chauffeur, whom you want pay beer money. HTFU. Either wait for the bus or pay for the taxi.

Think someone's ttp here, have been round from St Anton to Lech and never had to pay for buses and its slick service.
|
Don't think the bus has ever been free, not between St Anton and Lech.
Neilbradders - Taxi is about €50 each way so watch you don't miss the bus, it only runs once every couple of hours

Done it loads of times, simple and straightforward and do stop comparing it to the 3 Vallees.

I think I went over to Lech/zurs 3 days from St Anton in a week in total. Max bus waiting time was about 5 mins but then I learned this little thing called timetables and could get the hammer down from Schindler's Lift or take it easy as appropriate. From Nasserein by lift and ski far less hassle than getting to the bus station at t'other end of town for the post bus. Bus at 4 o'clock ish from Lech got nicely to Alpe Rauz to make the last connections though I'd recommend traversing high to avoid Happy Valley if possible.

You know it makes sense.

Swissie, +1......
.....and it IS free if you ski down to Rauz and catch it there. The Post Bus from St Anton to Lech is a pay bus but why would you catch that anyways, just ski down to Rauz from top of Schindler, probably the best piste in Europe IMO, even nicer if you get into the pow on either side.

If you are willing to pay beer money, why the heck not pay for the bus all the way from St Anton, cost per person is not much different to that of a beer. Or as others say, just ski and get the free bus, never had any hassle when I've done it, and always timed perfectly so as not to have to wait for too long.

Pow is nice if you make the catrack under the chair/by lake then drop down to the piste. Found piste side a bit shallow angle.
